Inventors Corner THE REMOTE CONTROL CLAMP Camlok has a broad and diverse line of standard products that satisfy the requirements of the majority of lifting applications. However, increasingly, Camlok Engineers are asked to design innovative clamps and grabs for unusual and specific customer applications. The remote control clamp is a good example of a special clamp that provides a solution to a customer's difficult lifting problem. The clamp was designed for use in the hazardous environment of a Nuclear Power Plant decommissioning. During the decommissioning process, a part of the pressure vessel manufactured from 50mm thick steel was remotely oxyacetylene cut into sections weighing approximately 2000kg by a Robotic Machine. The clamp was used to lift and transport the sections from within the reactor to a waste holding area for safe disposal.
